Love & Hugs from Australia Project
Posted by Natalie Bird on
When the coronavirus hit and every news bulletin was filled with stories from all over the world about the hardship everyone was suffering, I was feeling sad and a bit helpless. I thought, "What can I do? I don't have any useful skills to help out in a health pandemic!" "I'm a designer, a stitcher... wouldn't it be nice to draw up some stitching designs and share with my friends and followers through social media".
So I contacted some of my Australian designer friends and asked if they'd like to join me! I am so grateful for the support from some of our best and brightest Australian designers, in running our joint project, Love & Hugs from Australia. 17, 6" stitchery, appliqué and EPP blocks, FREE, to use however you wish.
We have each released our blocks, through our Facebook group, 'Love & Hugs from Australia Stitch-A-Long'. Most blocks can be collected via our websites (you can find my block here on my website).
So many stitchers around the world have enjoyed making the blocks and most have made the blocks into quilts, although there are lots of lovely smaller projects using the blocks also.
If you'd like to join the group, just search in Facebook, for 'Love & Hugs from Australia Stitch-A-Long' and request to join.
All the original blocks are still available to download for free, and we also have plans for another project, for Christmas, starting in July!
This is my block:
